Question by kc_hofreiter: Has anyone ever activated an “unlocked” cell phone through Verizon Wireless?
I have been looking at some “unlocked phones” over ebay and am wanting to purchase one of the unlocked phones, but I am scared I will purchase one and then verizon will tell me they won’t activate.

You can’t. Unlocked refers to GSM and iDEN phones only. Verizon uses CDMA phones. They are completely different technologies and are not compatible with each other. Verizon also will not activate any phone that is not Verizon branded since the ESN number will not be in their database.
